Position: Television Technician
Reports to: Production Manager
Supervises: None
Location: Providence, Rhode Island
Exempt / Non Exempt: Non-Exempt

Summary: The Television Technician works to support all aspects of studio, field production, and station operations. The Television Technicians bring technical experience to our Production team including running studio cameras, graphics, lighting, shading cameras or audio during the recording of Rhode Island PBS studio programming, as well as editing to provide high-quality production projects. Candidates with a background in technical operations, lighting, shooting and editing, or equivalent work experience is encouraged to apply.

Specific Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Run studio cameras, lighting, or audio during the recording of Rhode Island
  • Edit Rhode Island PBS programming
  • Install TV lighting and audio equipment in studio
  • Operate electronic field production (EFP) equipment on location.
  • Operate master control equipment

Education / Experience / Qualifications:

  • Education in Broadcasting Communications with a strong focus on technical operations, shooting and editing, or substantially equivalent work experience.
  • Editing skills (Rhode Island PBS uses Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate field video cameras.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Apple and Linux Operating Systems
  • Ability to lift up to fifty-(50) pounds.
  • Ability to work standing for extended periods.
  • Must have appropriate transportation.
  • Work collaboratively in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willing/able to take direction.
  • Comfortable with tight deadlines
