Meredith Curren

Board member

Meredith graduated from Smith College, where she captained the gymnastics team. She earned an MBA in finance and marketing from Columbia University and received the Hutchinson Award for Entrepreneurship. She also co-founded and served as the first President of Columbia Women in Business.

After many years running Pease & Curren, a precious metals refinery, Meredith entered public service. From 2015 to 2021, she served Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo on her leadership team as senior adviser. Her most recent venture, TROUBLE (troublemakers.org ) sells products, allows purchasers to honor their favorite TroubleMaker for Good and donates profits to gender equity organizations. Meredith is board vice chair of BankRI. She also serves on the board of Research Engineering & Manufacturing Inc., is vice chair at The Roger Williams Park Conservancy and is secretary at the newly combined Public Radio and Television of RI and SE New England.

Meredith previously served as a director of Ocean State Tax Exempt Fund, RI Public Television (governance), Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI (audit chair) and the Greater Providence Chamber. Through the years, Meredith has volunteered on the boards of many not-for-profits, including The YMCA, where she served as treasurer; Hope Hospice Care; and Social Venture Partners of RI. She has chaired the boards of both the William Hall Library and the Wheeler School.

Meredith and her husband, Gary Frishman, enjoy visiting their three grown children and luring them to Rhode Island as often as possible.
