Local Children's Show Teaches Emotional Skills and Environmental Stewardship

Email share

Since its release, the award-nominated video game Pollywog Pond has been entertaining kids with its engaging world, fun activities, and characters that little ones can't help but love. In 2021, Pollywog Pond first crossed into television with an award-winning series of COVID-19 mask-wearing interstitials. Now, it leaps back into television with an all-new early learning series premiering this summer on WSBE Rhode Island PBS!

This half-hour series follows ‘live’ puppets Waddle, Weep, Derb, and Berb as they discover all the wonders their home Pollywog Pond has to offer. Like in the game, kids are taught emotional and interpersonal skills, while themes of conservational awareness and environmental stewardship show kids the importance of protecting their planet in ways both big and small.

Pollywog Pond premieres July17 at 9:30 a.m. on WSBE Rhode Island PBS.

The video game can be accessed for free anytime at www.pollywogpond.com.

Episode 1 - July 17 at 9:30 a.m.

Adventures await as we meet Derb, Berb, Waddle, and Weep. Weep makes a new friend when he plants a seed he found, Waddle learns who has the right stuff, and we learn about Pollywog Pond.

Episode 2 - July 19 at 9:30 a.m.

Derb looks for something he lost, Waddle has a horrendously horrible day, and a new horse joins the farm at Stump Village.

Episode 3 - July 21 at 9:30 a.m.

While Weep creates his own little critter zoo, Dave and Red visit a zoo where they get to feed a giraffe. Things then get a bit scary when it looks like there might be a lion on the prowl at the Pond!

Pollywog Pond is produced by Rhode Island-based Whooplah LLC, led by executive producer and entertainment industry veteran Bill Culbertson, with children’s musician George Cooney as composer and director. This season also includes guest star Michelle Brooks-Thompson, a finalist on NBC’s The Voice.
